We are excited to announce that we have been awarded 3 years of funding from the Co-op Foundation Future Communities Fund. We are delighted to be one of 13 partners receiving support from the Co-op Foundation, gifting a hugely generous combined £1.4m over the next 5 years.
The Future Communities Fund enabled the Co-op Foundation to pilot a new approach that allowed young people to take the lead in deciding which organisations would be supported. The decision makers prioritised youth activism and sharing power as well as developing diverse, equitable and inclusive communities.
This exciting approach largely contributes to the Future Communities Vision shaped and developed alongside young people. The Future Communities Vision acknowledges young people as the future of our communities: "they are the next generation of community leaders, pioneers and members". We are thrilled to be able to use this funding to expand our youth demographics, our work with equality, diversity and inclusion and offer more free training courses. We are committed to providing support and training alongside volunteering opportunities and experiences that empower young people to excel. At SVC, we aim to enhance the lives of disadvantaged or vulnerable members of the local community through volunteering. We want volunteering to be part of everyday life for everybody and this includes involving young people as we strive to help others.
