Here at Student Volunteering Cardiff (SVC) we are committed to ensuring that any personal information we record and store is done so in a safe and secure manner in line with the GDPR 2018 to ensure we protect all of our members.
What it is GDPR?
The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) 2018 is a European law that has been introduced to reinforce and unite data protection for individuals within the GDPR compliant countries. Currently, the UK is required to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 (and the 1995 EU Data Protection Directive), but from 25th May 2018 we will need to comply with the GDPR instead. The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) will regulate the implementation of the GDPR in the UK.
What have we put in place?
Privacy Notices – We have put together privacy notices which provide you with all the information regarding Data Protection and the information we hold on you. All of these can be found on the volunteer portal on the SVC website (www.svcardiff.org).
Data Protection Policy – We have updated our policy to reflect the new GDPR (2018). This can be found on the volunteer portal on our website (www.svcardiff.org).
Subject Access Request – We have revised our procedure for accessing your data to make it easier and more streamlined. For information of this see our Subject Access Flowchart on the volunteer portal on our website (www.svcardiff.org).
Data Breach – In line with GDPR we must report data breaches to the ICO. We have made a simple procedure for this to make it as simple as possible. See our Data Breach flowchart on our volunteering portal on the SVC website (www.svcardiff.org).
