We are looking to fill the following trustee positions:
1. Events & Fundraising Officer Responsibilities:
A varied role, with the main aim of supporting the SVC team to organise key events, and plan fundraisers. No experience is required, we will support the right candidate to develop within this role.
- Support in the planning of new/ existing SVC fundraisers, for example Charity quiz nights
- Support in the planning and running of online fundraisers for SVC, for example, the SVC virtual Duck Race
- Support in the planning of SVC one off events, for example, events we plan for National Student Volunteering Week, Winter Giving Week, Volunteers week etc.
- Opportunities to be involved in fundraising grants and bids submitted by SVC (if this of interest to the successful candidate)
- Promote and support the SVC Brand
- Bring new ideas for promotion and development to the SVC Board of Trustees
- Plan and prepare one off-events to promote volunteering and the SVC brand (every event planned will be planned in partnership with the SVC staff team and trustees board)
- Look to develop links with University societies, clubs, groups, charities and organisations
2. Beneficiary Liaison Officer:
This role will enable the successful candidate to gain experience of working with lots of different groups that SVC supports. This could range from children and adults with disabilities (learning and/or physical), young carers, people who identify as neurodivergent, and people experiencing homelessness.
The Board of Trustees want to hear the voices of our beneficiaries. This role will work with beneficiaries, listen to their views and then feedback this information to the Board.
- Work with SVC staff to organise and host small steering groups
- Develop evaluation methods to gain feedback from different groups
- Act as an advocate for our beneficiaries by feeding back information to our Board
No experience is required, we will support the right candidate to develop within this role.
3. Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Trustee:
This role will champion EDI within SVC, ensuring it is central to SVC's culture and practices.
- Help develop and implement SVC's EDI strategy
- Ensure EDI is considered in all areas of SVC's work
- Advise the Board on EDI and promote it within and outside SVC
- Support a culture that values diversity and challenges discrimination
- Help the Board achieve its EDI goals and ensure EDI is part of Board decisions
- Develop inclusive policies and oversee EDI data collection
- Support EDI training
- Build relationships with diverse groups and represent SVC at EDI events
